I see Barnaul and Wolf, which is better? Any others to look for,
and where. I need to order some in bulk. |

To me both of them are the same. I have no problem with both of them but other seems to have. My AK loves them, then again my AK eat any brand of ammo alive.
I buy my at http://www.ammoman.com/ |

I have only had experience with Wolf. It's good cheap practice ammo.

Other than it's accuracy, Wolf performs good. For me at least.

I like tcw hollow points. just as cheap as the rest but they tumble well. Good for hunting within the limits of the caliber.

For what it's worth, some folks on the AK-47.net seem to think that Barnaul is the best quality, while Wolf is so so.
I've tried Barnaul personally and it seems to be okay. It does not seem to have that peculiar smell and smoke of Wolf. Skorzeny

I use them both regularly and find them to be pretty much equal. I have been using Wolf more due to the lower price. If I had to choose one for long-term storage, Barnaul is better suited in that respect............

Barnaul is pretty good stuff, try their hollow point, which shoots better.

I picked up some Brass cased South African ammo a while back at a gun show and it functioned flawlessly. You can usually find it in the shotgun news or other such publications for a real good price.

I've heard that the South African (PMP, I think) brass-cased 7.62x39mm is excellent ammo, particularly in terms of accuracy, compared to Russian ammo.
However, I'm a bit concerned about slam fire with the AK firing pin (no spring). I suppose that is more of a soft/hard primer issue. Also, how well does the brass case stand up to the notorious AK extractor? Skorzeny

I havent noticed any brass getting chewed up or anything..I inspected the cases and they seemed fine. I dont reload it because I have seen it as cheap as 2.99 a box
