If having a forged frame is worth $100 to you, get the Springfield. That's about the only diff I see between the two of them.

Yup, Springfield.
Rock Island makes a decent gun. But Springfield is better quality. |

Springfield. Good gun, and top-notch service.

I have both no problem with either. What fits your budget better?

I've had both. I don't own the RIA now, but own multiple Springfields.

The price point you're considering, I would look at RIA, Springfield, and Taurus.
After some deliberation, I'd go Springfield. |

SA and you'll never regret it
I've got both a fully loaded stainless for the house, and the Mil-Spec for my carry and I love them. Haven't had an issue with either. And more importantly, I've had people who know and respect me try their best to buy them from me at near what I paid.
The money you save today won't satisfy you down the road when they offer you nothing in trade or sale for the cheaper gun when next you want to upgrade. |

And when the day comes to resell it, and it will, the Springer will sell much easier.

I have both and think you would be well served ( and customer served if needed) either way. I do think the RIA Tactical is about the best bang for the buck these days in a 1911.
