What is "parkerized"
Would someone please explain what a "parkerized" finish is and why one might want it.

Parkerizing is a phosphate finish developed by the Parker Company. It was used by the military because:

It was also cheaper to parkerize than to polish & blue. Guns which are polished don't take the phosphates well (I learned this from experience). BTW, when the search function is restored, do a search on "parkerizing" and my user name. There's instructions on how to parkerize at home here at TFL.

Parkerized.
Definition: Channel surfing and catching a glimps of Andrea Parker in a mini skirt, and not having it register with your brain in time to remove your thumb from the remote. It causes you to watch endless hours of The Pretender reruns in the hope that the scene will repeat itself. Once one has seen, one need not ask why. or that phostphate thingie above. |
