Would you buy a Glock if they solved the kb problem?
Would you buy a Glock if they had better case support?

Nice!
Solid utilization of a loaded question, whereby answering acknowledges there exists a kB! problem to start with.

I am not aware of any DE's going KB, but it would be interesting to see an example of one.

Yeah, point is with enough stupidity and powder you can blow up ANYTHING.
There is a pic of a RUger SRH floating around here somewhere whose topstrap is ruptured. GLOCK is one of (if not the) most popular handgun in the world, incidents will be proportinally higher. If it's a problem for you, buy something you perceive to be kB! proof... ... like a desert eagle. |

Nah it's all good man. No more pics. It was kind of a joke, because I don't beleive ANYTHING really has a kB! problem.

WOW, what a thread. lol I swear many of us had made it clear in numerous if not too many threads that KBs are mostly caused by bad reloads

You'd think it's common knowledge, but

Yes , many are caused by bullet setback ! Set back a bullet in .40 by .10" and you DOUBLE the pressure 35,000 to 70,000 psi !!!

investigation vs internet slander
KBs in Glocks is real, but I have some knowledge of other brands also KBing, to include (a pair!) H&K with issued duty ammo, Colt 1911, Witness (no, NOT mine LOL), and EVERY OTHER brand.
'Generous' chambers and insufficient case neck tension; the bane of modern autoloaders. Can be any brand, but Glock gets blamed due to their sudden popularity and inexperienced owners, crappy ammo, and incorrect ammo handling. Glock makes a good gun, just like Ruger or Beretta or SIG or H&K or S&W or any of the others, but it is NOT overly susceptible to 'KBs'. Just bad ammo. I owned a 10mm; I owned a M17; I sold both due to my personal issue with grip feel and angle, even after reduction.

weshoot2 - I'm interested in the pair of HK's. What models and what duty ammo were they using? I've got the USPF 40 and 45. I don't chamber the 40's more than 2x, due to setback concerns. I'm using Ranger T in it. Regards 18DAI.

They were 40s; their ammo was from Speer.

I already did.
My Walther has less case support and a sloppier chamber than my G22. My CZ must have really bad case support because it is the only 40 that bulges cases that I have. I moved recently and can't find my calipers to measure the dimensions on the CZ. CZ 9mm also bulges cases where a very old G17, G26, Skyy, do not. Plus have there been any KB's of recent date with new ammunition since one of the makers of the cases was reported to have quietly beefed up the back of the case? Note also that AA#5 has a warning with it's use as a propellant in 40's. Seems many of the KB's must have been traced back to that powder. I have personally seen the remains of two KB'd revolvers One a 45 LC one a 45 ACP. One reloads one not. Both had "fully supported" chambers. Both lost topstraps and most of each chamber around the KB. To date I haven't seen a pistol KB at the ranges. Seen them jam and break but they were mostly cheap mouseguns or 1911's. To date I have not seen anyone throw or cuss incessantly at their Glocks or Sigs for failure once again. I must add I have a couple 1911's one works fine and one is a second hand Kitchen Table Bubba job that I am slowly fixing the damage wrought to the poor thing. |
