Price check: what say you?

Wasn't looking for anything in particular when the salesman sticks a pistol into the used pistol case. So I go take a look: a blued PT1911 in what appears to be as new condition. I ask to see it...it is like new. Action is very slick, and the trigger broke very crisply at what felt like no more than 4 to 4.5 pounds to me. All stock, and no wear or marring in the finish. The price: $359, and this was at Gander Mountain! Seems pretty good to me, so I've got them holding it.

So what say you all? Deal, or no deal?

Hell of a price. Did you field strip it and check the internals (feed ramp, etc)? What's their return policy on used guns if you get it to the range and something isn't kosher?

No, and I dunno. I will field strip it if and when I go back, probably tomorrow. The sales guy did say GM would provide a 1 year warrantee, so it is pretty tempting, I must say. And I'm going to a pretty nice gunshow Saturday, so I might just put $450 on it and see what happens.

What do you mean put $450 on it? I thought it was $359?

Ahhhh gotcha! Whatever you decide, if the gun is that good of shape, it's a hell of a price.

I'm pretty sure taurus has a lifetime warranty on guns no matter if you buy it used. Mark

Although I have been bittten twice by 1911's and more than twice by taurus, I'd say go for it. Sounds like a deal to me. Taurus has its lifetime warrenty and with the manager offering a one year warrenty, you can by-pass the horrible taurus customer service should you have any problems right off.

I think that if you already wanted that 1911 and you found it for that price...no brainer. But do you really want that model and maker?

Well, no shortage of 1911's 'round here...as for the maker, I already have one Taurus that I flat-out love, so no prob there. Frankly, it beats the heck out of butchering up any of my Colt's with frontstrap checkering, FLGR, etc. Might even get a 22LR kit to slap on it...

Get it! I've been looking for a used one for a week now and cant find one. Must be a good sign? The lowest price I've found for a new one is just over 500. I'd say you've got a hell of a deal. Take it or I will!

Why not?

Never a bad idea to have an extra. You can use it as a loaner if you take a friend to the range or out some place to do some shooting.
