What are the five best 9mm's ever made?

Ok this is a topic that will stir discussion.
What are the five best nines ever made? This is overall, looks, performance, feel. Here's my list, everyone else is free to agree or disagree:

BTW, this list is not in any particular order.

1. Browning High Power
2. Glock 19
3. CZ-75
4. Beretta 92
5. HK P7M8

What isn't here that should be?
What is here that shouldn't be?

1. Browning High Power
2. Glock 19
3. CZ-75
4. Beretta 92
5. HK P7M8

I would agree with this list, although here are some more:
HK USP
Sig P226

BTW, if you ask me what are the best 3 9mm's ever made were, I would say
Browning HP
Beretta 92
HK P7M8 (my favorite, carry very often).

What is interesting, is that very few people ever talk about 3d generation Smith 9mm pistols.
They are kind of sleepers in the stores, but in my opinion, all politics aside, they are really fine autos, especially the full size 5906 and 5903 models. I have more than 4k rounds through my 5903 and only had 3 stopages, all of them in one day and almost certanly ammo related. I am not suggesting that they belong to the 5 best list, but they should not be neglected. Many PD's issue them.

Here's my list:

1) Sig P210
2) Sig P228
3) Sig P226
4) Browning Hi-Power
5) Glock's 17 & 19

I'm sure their will be a lot of varied opinions as to what's best? Guess, it's
whatever works for you. For everyday
all around use, I would choose the Sig
P228.

Best Wishes,

SIG P210, Browning HP, CZ-75, HK P7, and Walther P88. Best to all.

No particular order:

1. Beretta 92
2. Glock 19
3. Browning Hi-Power
4. H & K P7 PSP
5. CZ 75

With the Walther P 88 and historically the P38 close behind.

I'm gonna cheat, and go with 5 most important:
1: P-08- the gun that established 9mm.
2: P-35 Hi-Power- showed the way to 9mm's raison d'etre: mag capacity.
3: P-38- Demonstrated that a rugged service auto can be DA.
4: *&* M659- Combined DA, high capacity, and stainless steel in one gun.
5: Glock 17- Altered the face of combat 9mm's for good with a rethink of just what a 'combat' auto should be.

Runners up would be: *&* M39, SIG P-225, H&K P7, and Beretta 92 for, repectively; legitimizing the DA 9mm in America, Proving that a DA auto can function as well w/o a safety as a DA wheelgun, approaching the idea of a combat auto from an entirely new (too new, probably) direction, and setting a new standard in 9mm service pistol reliability and ruggedness (at the expense of size and weight).

Just my thoughts...

Looks don't matter to me, I'll rate them by function and fit in my hand, in order:

1) Browning HP
2) H&K P7M8
3) Glock 17
4) Sig P226
5) Beretta 92FS

Good question. Tough call. Personally, I look for combat effectiveness, which to me is a combination of size, functionality, how it feels, accuracy, and firepower (type of round and number of rounds).

1. Beretta 92.
2. Glock 17/19.
3. Sig 225/226/228/229.
4. Walther P99.
5. HK USP.

Runners up would be the Sig 210, the S&W 5906, and the HK P7. I say runners up not to imply that they are inferior, but only to say that they're not as combat worthy IMHO.

Good post Tamara!

My favorites are (in no particualr order):

Beretta
Browning
CZ
HK
SIG

I also think the Glocks, Ruger, Walther, Syeyr, Taurus and S&W are excellent. The Star is very good too. Any quality clones of the above.

1. Sig "P" Series Pistols (no explination needed)

2. Beretta 92 Series (very reliable, but a little big in the hand for me)

3. Browning Hi-Power (handsome and very comfortable)

4. Kahr K9 (best ballance of size, weight, and capacity)

5. S&W 3rd. Generation (Pre-sellout ONLY)

If I had more choices, HK and Glock might have made the list. It isn't that I hate HK, I just hate the sharp checking on the front of the grip of hte HK. It really chews up on the hand, and is probably unnecessary for a 9mm.

The Glock is undoubtably one of the finest designs ever manufactured, but for me the grip angle is way to severe. It feels as though my hand is contorting to a weird position just to aim.

Lots of very fine 9mm available, I guess I am just a little picky. Just because a particular gun didn't make my list doesn't mean I think it's a bad gun, it just means it hasen't worked for me.

I would add the Star BKM. The only factory pocket pistol in 9x19. Therefore, to me, the most useful 9x19.
