Friggin beautiful and HIGHLY TACTICAL! I was just looking at the ballistics of a ,308 vs 6.55X55 at 1000 yds and the Swedes got about 28% more poop.

does your empty brass slam into your scope when you eject them ?

Nope. The brass almost comes out flat. The beauty of control feeding.

I have some 120gr. SP loads that shoot quite well but I've been told that 140 will shoot better.

Very nice.

But isn't the eye relief too much for that scope position (for that EER scope)? - don't you have to place your head at the far back end of the stock to get eye relief?

Also, what bbl length? 96/38 (24ish?), 96 (29ish), or cut down?

Also, how did you make the mount - milling machine? How solid is it - how many points of contact with screws? Thanks.

The scope is an Intermediate Eye Releaf Model Bushnell.

I cut the barrel from 23" to 19 or 20" with a hacksaw and a brownell crowning tool.

I used hand tools to make the base from a weaver flat bottom mount (i think it was from a Marlin 336). I had to drill and tap the holes in the mount and drill through the front sight base guard on the barrel.

Some of these pictures a quite old.

Shootz,

I had a M38 about 8 years ago that did quite well with 140s. The 140s on up have excellent sectional density and usually, depending on the maker/design, excellent ballistic coefficients.
