If It Looks Like a Colt,
and feels like a Smith, it must be a Taurus? Well, not quite! I just picked this LNIB Taurus 689 (out of production) up today. The fit, finish, action, and lock up are 99%. I will try and shoot it next week if it ever stops raining around these parts. So Taurus owners, if you've gotum showum...

BULLROCK:
1)You've done it again, on "One-Upmanship"(Just teasing(But true!)!)in finding your beautiful Taurus? Great catch! 2)BTW, where did you find this Model 689(On the Internet?)? Did you get the box and/or the papers with this revolver? 3)I favor the 4-inch barrel length and I think that the older Model 689 taurus revolver is a good revolver! It's ironic-but(Just yesterday!)I saw an 6-inch Taurus Model 689 in my favorite gun shop and it looked to be in the same mint condition as your Model 689, shown in your pictures! However, this gun(And your 689!)are the only two of these taurus Model 689 revolvers that I have ever seen(Since they were first introduced years ago!)! |

Looks and feels like a Smith to me (except for the Pythonish vented rib). Very nice piece in any event.
Hey Bullrock, didn't you recently vow to not buy anymore handguns for a while?

I had a blued one when they first came out back in the 1980s. For some reason they must not have sold to well because it was dropped and it was at the time their top of the line revolver. The 669 was the same gun with a solid barrel rib, but they changed it's name to the M66 and I think they still sell that one today.
Nice find on a NIB M689. Mine shot quite well and even though I sold it it still goes to the range today. |

689,you want?
I own a stainless 689 my wife bought new for me, I would give it away for the chance to buy back my King Cobra or a stainless python.(ok I exaggerate)
My colt was the 150 anniversary 6"(as is the 689, "6) I had ro sell the colt. The taurus is ok but it is like comparing a skateboard to a rolls royce |

I agree, nothing beats a Colt. I own a Python, Trooper, and Lawman, but if I didn't have them, my Taurus 689 would suffice... |

I think that I figured it out:
BullRock + Rain = guns He would go broke (but have tons of guns) if he lived in Oregon . BTW, nice. I like that finish, it's shiny, almost like nickel. Wayne |
