Exp.tests: 9mm 127gr +p+ Ranger SXT (RA9SXTP)

Fired into calibrated 10% Ballistic geletin from 15 yards. Test gun was a stock Walther P99.
15 rounds fired, all expanded. Penetration varied from 13-15 inches. velocity was 1250FPS with 440 Ft/lbs at the muzzle with a variance of +/-5 FPS. Recoil was stout and sharp from the light, polymer framed auto, but controlable. Muzzle flip was nominal but they had the slight palm sting usualy associated with magnum revolvers. It wasnt painfull or distracting, just felt like claping your hands kinda hard, but much more that I have ever felt from a 9mm. I think the slim backstrap of the P99 may have contributed to the sting a bit. The recoil was very similar to a medium frame 6in barrel .357 revolver. not an excesive amount of muzzle rise, but the sensation of a quick slap to the palm of your hand. Those 15 Rangers caused more actual discomfort than 50 full power Cor-bon 10mm rounds from a Glock 20, due to very different recoil charctaristics and the 9mm's slim backstrap.
The performace was far above my expectations. The large blocks of gel were, for lack of a better discription, torn to he11. The Stretch cavity started about 1 1/2 inches into the geletin and messured on average about 9 inches long by 7 inches tall/wide. Expanded Diameter averaged 2 centimeters. there was no jacket seperation and no visable fragmentation. the average recovered weigh was 122-127grains. To my suprise, the bullets stayed faceing the right direction. they didnt turn on the side for the last few inches like the civilian black talons.

I was impressed. keep in mind, this is all comeing from a long time non-fan of the 9mm. This is one 9mm round that I will feel comfortable carrying for defence when Its to hot to carry my Glock 10mm.

I hear horror stories of Botach botching ppl's orders...while I haven't dealt with them and can't say, I'm going to call and see if I can drive and pick them up as I live in Orange County.
